Q:What is the current situation and protocol in regards to covid-19?
A: Virgin Gorda is very similar to many other travel destinations in regards to what is required to enter. The basics include proof of vaccination and a negative test taken no more than 48 hours before your arrival. However, due to limited medical facilities and access in the islands, you must also provide proof of travel insurance that covers medical reparation, quarantine accommodation costs, and COVID-19 medical costs including hospitalizations, doctor’s visits and prescriptions. Also, if you have not taken a test before arriving, you will be required to pre-register for one through the BVI’s “Hummingbird Portal.”
The requirements are fairly standard for international travel, but if you are confused, there is a wonderful guide to BVI travel protocol HERE.
q: can I rent a car on the island?
A: Yes and if you plan on seeing a lot of the island we definitely recommend it. You can get everywhere on the island in about 15 minutes by car and because of the hills, walking can be tiresome.
You can rent all the best island vehicles from White Oleander Destinations. Call or email Sharon Flax Mars for rates:

Q: Where do I park, if I have rented a car?
A: Rental cars are available in Spanish Town right where you arrive in Virgin Gorda. We can help you arrange one ahead of time if you would like. Each one of our villas has its own parking so you will have no trouble having a place for your rented car overnight or loading in luggage and groceries.
Q: Where is the closest beach?
A: Sunset Watch is built on an oceanfront lot, meaning even the beach is part of the property. Therefore you are literally steps from your own private beach, equipped with picnic tables for your dining pleasure and a stone-edge, white sand sunbathing area just for you. The beach is free and open for your use at any time. We also provide kayaks, snorkel gear, and other water activity supplies for your use.
Q: How do I get to virgin gorda from the united states?
A: Because Virgin Gorda is a small island in the Caribbean there are multiple ways to get there. The two most popular and simplest methods are:
Fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico [SJU] then fly directly to the small airport on Virgin Gorda [VIJ] using CapeAir or a private chartered flight arranged with our help.
Fly to one of the larger surrounding islands like St. Thomas [STT] or Tortola/Beef Island [EIS] and then take a ferry to Virgin Gorda. The ferry will drop you off at the island’s main marina in Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda.
q: What currency is used in virgin gorda?
A: The only currency used in Virgin Gorda is the US Dollar ($)
q: Can you drink the water in virgin gorda?
A: Our villas are are serviced by the desalination plant from Nail Bay Water Company. All water from the taps and faucets at our villas is perfectly safe to drink.
Q: What happens during a power outage?
A: Electric power is provided through Nail Bay Community Association which maintains two large standby generators that automatically come on, typically within thirty seconds, when power from BVI Electricity is interrupted for any reason.
Q: who manages the property on site?
A: Sonny Franklyn has served for the past ten years as the full-time Manager to oversee 1 Paradise Lane, Sunset Watch, and Sundowner and serve as a Concierge to our guests. If you wish, you can have daily housekeeping except on Sundays and Public holidays. Sonny’s phone number will be provided upon your arrival to the villa.
Q: what other amenities are included with the villa rentals?
A: In addition to the private beach and pool at these villas, we include access to outdoor tennis courts, indoor gym facilities, squash court, table tennis, and many more activities. For an additional cost, there is also a local spa within the Nail Bay Estates: The Retreat at Nail Bay Spa by Spa&Sparkle.
